I think it is important for all students to share ideas or express concerns to each other.  We can learn a lot from someone other than our teacher, who has gone through or is going through the same learning process.  We can learn a lot from someone who plays an instruments other than our own.  I took a vocal methods class and a brass methods class and I was able to apply techniques from these classes to my instrument (viola).  I learned a lot about breathing- which is very very important yet disregarded by many string players- from these classes that most string teachers do not discuss in much detail.  So basically, the goal is to share and learn.
